How to use Filters
Filter Modal
The filter modal allows users to narrow down their search results based on various criteria. The available fields for filtering include:
- Rating: A star-based rating system where users can select a rating from 1 to 5 stars.
- Dish: A text input field where users can specify the name of a dish.
- Place: A text input field for entering the name of a restaurant or establishment.
- Area: A text input field for specifying a neighborhood or district.
- City: A text input field for entering the name of a city.
- Country: A text input field for specifying a country.
- Tags: A field where users can input keywords (e.g., "burger," "vegan"). Users must press "Enter" to add a tag.
Filtering Logic
The filtering system allows users to search based on one or multiple fields simultaneously. The logic of filtering works as follows:
- Users can enter values into any combination of fields.
- Only items that match all entered criteria will be returned.
- If an item in the list contains all the values specified in the filter, it will be displayed.
- If an item contains only some of the entered values but not all, it will be excluded from the results.
Example:
Suppose a user enters "New York" in the City field and "burger" in the Tags field:
- Any item that includes both "New York" as the city and has the "burger" tag will be shown.
- Items that contain only "New York" but do not have the "burger" tag will not be shown.
- Items that contain the "burger" tag but are not in "New York" will also not be shown.
Tagging Tips for Restaurant Visits
1. Plan Your Visits with Tags
Add a tag like wantToVisit to restaurants you plan to visit. Later, you can quickly filter them and update the records with your ratings after visiting.
2. Categorize by Dish Type
Use tags for specific dishes, such as pizza or ramen. This makes it easier to filter records based on the type of food while ignoring the city, district, or country.
3. Organize by Cuisine
Add tags for different world cuisines, like georgianCuisine or italianCuisine. This helps you quickly find all the places that serve a particular cuisine.
4. Find Places Near You
Use location-based tags like nearHome to quickly find restaurants that are close to where you live.
5. Track Your Favorites
Mark restaurants with a tag like favorite so you can easily revisit your best experiences.
6. Note Special Features
Add tags such as greatCoffee or cozyAtmosphere to highlight specific aspects of a place that you liked.
7. Identify Price Categories
Tag places with budget, midRange, or expensive to quickly filter them based on your preferred spending range.
8. Mark Group-Friendly Spots
Use a tag like goodForGroups to easily find places suitable for larger gatherings.
9. Keep Track of Seasonal Offers
If a place has a seasonal menu, tag it with seasonalSpecials to check back for limited-time dishes.
10. Sort by Service Speed
Use tags like quickService or slowService to set expectations for future visits.
